Well when brain storming about ideas to start a new business, I wasn't quiet comfortable with trying to learn on the job, I'd much rather like to know what I was getting myself into and perfect the process as I went along.
So after an idea session of coming up with at least 20 ideas of things I could/would be at least interested in doing, I went with what had been nagging at me in the beginning, I really wanted to make lip balm again.
A while back my daughters had wanted to make some extra money, so we brain stormed about what would be small and easily transported, cheap for kids at school to buy, and something that they could sell to both boys and girls, grant it lip balm is more of a girl thing for sure, but do not underestimate the charm of my daughters.
Plenty O' boys were lining up to purchase something that made their scabby pubescent lips more attractive.
Plus it was a wonderful experience that my OCD tendencies didn't even take over and kill. basically cause all we did was sort out some yummy ingredients and microwave everything together, pour in our preferred scents and the mix of coconut butter, shea, a variety of awesome oils ranging avocado, olive, sunflower, safford, and coconut to make the most heavenly smooth base that glides over your lips leaving them soft and well hydrated. with the scents we all picked out you also get a nice little smell. We experimented with flavors, my favorite was a happy accident of a chocolate and caramel mix, the miracle was we never bought anything that was even close to caramel or chocolate, flavored. It was a mix of the different oils and a light scent that was added by no one knows who. Our new mission is to duplicate that same scent. I'm pretty sure it will be our signature once we figure it out again that is.
